QUODITCH MOOR NATURE RESERVE A WALK IN APRIL Field Four |
Field Four (3.3 acres, 1.323 hectares) was cleared of many of its trees a few years ago in an effort to restore the grassland. |
| It is an interesting mix of grass, bramble, newly grown scrub and the remaining trees. | |

The warmth of the sun has brought out a pair of early common Lizards. |

Later in the year this field will be full of butterflies. Even now there are a couple of Speckled Woods around. ( picture not taken at Quoditch) |

The ditch nearby is still wet and is providing a good home for the fungus Mitrula Paludosa. (commonly known as the Swamp Candle or Bog Beacon) These are quite tiny but a very bright shade of yellow with white stalks. They are one of the many fungi that appear at this time of the year. |
| Here are another couple that we have found here. |
We'll get around to naming them ASAP |
| The marsh thistles are starting to appear. |
| And, that important plant, honeysuckle is coming into leaf. |
| There are plenty of other signs of animal activity. Here, lots of dried grass has been dragged from the field into a hole. |
Now it's time to move on to the fifth field. Cut through the trees in the middle of the field or, if you prefer, cut through the gap at the west end of the field and walk through the woods. CLICK ON THE QED LOGO TO MOVE ON |
