They also like the Hemp Agrimony.

This one, again found in August 2004, is a female Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax)

Our thanks to Steve Covey for identifying these.

Viridian Photography By the middle of the month the Silver washed Fritillaries are beginning to lose their vividness and are getting frayed at the edges.
Viridian Photography But there are fresh Wood Whites from the second brood.
Viridian Photography The Gatekeepers have taken over from the Meadow Browns.

Viridian Photography And the Speckled Woods are still around.

Viridian Photography Here's a Comma (Polygonia C-album) feeding on the Devil's Bit Scabious. We found this one in August 2004

Occasionally we spot this one - a Small Copper.

It was quite interesting to find this species in SW France as well.

Viridian Photography In the freshly cleared areas fungi are appearing.
Viridian Photography The Marsh Thistles have done their work in feeding the butterflies and are now going to seed.
