There area plenty of buzzing insects attracted by the Devil's Bit Scabeous which has flourished since the field was cleared. (This one is Eristalis interruptus (male)) |

They also like the Hemp Agrimony. This one, again found in August 2004, is a female Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) Our thanks to Steve Covey for identifying these. |
| By the middle of the month the Silver washed Fritillaries are beginning to lose their vividness and are getting frayed at the edges. |
| But there are fresh Wood Whites from the second brood. |
| The Gatekeepers have taken over from the Meadow Browns. | |

Occasionally we spot this one - a Small Copper. It was quite interesting to find this species in SW France as well. |

The Marsh Thistles have done their work in feeding the butterflies and are now going to seed. |
